I have always had an interest in anything artistic. Growing up in small isolated community handicrafts was a big part of the pastime. With the beauty around me I was more inclined towards drawing. Because of my interest in drawing I was eager to learn more which I accomplished through self help books and I realized from that, the intensity of my interest in artwork went far beyond drawing, I also taught myself how to paint.
I enrolled in the Visual Arts Program at Cona, Stephenville to further develop my skills in drawing and painting. I soon realized that there was so much to learn and I wanted to experience it all. I enjoyed working with all mediums but drawing, painting and sculpture were the three things that totally captivated my attention; oil painting being my most enjoyable medium. It soon became an outlet for my inner thoughts. When I am working I am totally involved in each individual piece as if it were a search for self expression without any deliberate thinking or decision.
As an emerging artist my time has been consumed with commissioned pieces which have been a drastic learning experience for me. It has challenged my abilities and nudged me into new territory. It has expanded my painting over a wide range of subject matter and each is as intricate and interesting as the last one. Although, I have been painting primarily realism, I am eager to expand into more abstract creations to let loose my imagination and creativity.
